基地位於21省道和桃米村之交界處，為進出桃米村之兩大重要出入口之一。該基地於921大地震之後，由於交通與桃米村的地理位置而淪為丟棄建築廢棄物、廢土方之場所，隨著時間的演進與風化作用，過去滿目瘡痍的傷口如今淹沒在荒煙漫草之中，和周圍的山體融為一體，形成現在的樣貌。
原只是暫時性放置的廢土，數年後卻與環境結合，形成永久性的狀態，因此探討議題分為以下三部分：
Architecture without form：
一、設計將過去的地震時產生的廢土從基地挖除，裸露出過去真實的空間場域，並將這些象徵過去傷痕的物件重新塑造成兩道牆。
二、兩道牆貫穿基地形成一個清楚的斷面，重組並展現過去歷史的斷片，隨著時間的演進，重新定義新的樣貌，與周遭自然再度同化循環。
三、在這兩道牆之間穿插活動，使人們停留、交流，時間在空間上留下新的痕跡，形成新的場域空間。
The thickness of Architecture:
The facade is the first impression of the building. The section is a precise description of the state of the object.
Before somebody experience space, no one knows what the internal space is.
If we compare it with anatomy, the facade is like our skin. Cutting with a scalpel, we can understand what kind of texture, blood vessels, and bones support the structure behind it.
The two walls serve as scalpels for cutting the base so that we can clearly realize the traces of the past earthquakes, get rid of the once tragic fate, and become a space that local residents love to use.

- 暫時成為永久時，同化的過程
- 其同化過程和時間的關係
